It's always a projection from a deferred judgment on one's own self. I had this boyfriend once, he was such a sweet guy. We never had sex but we called each other boyfriend and girlfriend because we were both scared of reality at the time. My reality being that I had been recently raped and felt like I was a woman in a man's world, and he, a closet homosexual living in a society that gave free hate to homosexuals. Anyway, over time, my boyfriend started going out late at night. This very sweet natured boy had become a secret monster and was out at the gay bars, picking up other boys, more than likely having sex with them and then beating the pulp out of them to 'punish' them for his own sexuality. Finally, the boyfriend person admitted to himself that he was truly gay and was able to live a somewhat normal life in a happy relationship with my other best friend at the time. It all reminds me of the plot in the movie 'American Beauty' where the patriotic all american dad begins to have gay fantasies of Kevin Spacey's character next door, and eventually ends up killing him.
